About Us

As Tasmania’s publicly owned training provider, TasTAFE is a vital contributor to the prosperity of the state’s economy through supporting jobs and employment and the economic resilience of our businesses and industry. With a focus on practical, real-life learning, we work hard to ensure the training our learners receive is industry relevant and we provide real industry skills that are highly valued by employers.

TasTAFE aspires to be a place of innovation, creating new ways of training, finding solutions, delivering differently, and increasing access for all.

The Role

You will be working from our Campbell Street campus.

The Marketing and Communications team are passionate about promoting vocational pathways as a smart career choice for school leavers and adult learners – and we’re looking for a Communications Officer who can help us share these stories.

A typical day could see you producing an internal staff newsletter, interviewing a TasTAFE student for a written story or video, organising social media posts and researching data to respond to a media enquiry.

Working closely with our Digital Content Creator you’ll coordinate photo and video shoots, and you’ll write content to support a range of events such as awards and graduation ceremonies, media events and marketing campaigns.

What will you bring

A storyteller by nature, you love to create and share good news through a range of channels. You take pride in tailoring content that resonates with specific audiences and enjoy the process of research to ensure accuracy and relevance in all communicated information.

You’ll be a self-driven individual who understands the importance of collaboration to influence a positive outcome.

Above all, you’re a team player, who will ensure all marketing and communication activities are aligned to strategic objectives and adhere to brand guidelines.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of traditional and social media, including awareness of different media formats and their requirements together with experience in coordinating and creating engaging web and social media content.
  • Highly developed written communication skills, including the ability to create content for a variety of formats and audiences.
  • High level verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective organisational and self-management skills.
  • Well-developed research and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a small team and handle sensitive situations and information with confidentiality, diplomacy, and tact.

You will require a current Working with Vulnerable People registration, or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement.

Desirable Requirements

•           A relevant formal tertiary qualification.

•           Experience in a communications role.

•           Ability to undertake intrastate travel.
