The Role

We are seeking a VET Student Assistant to join our team at our Campbell St campus on a permanent part-time basis. This role is dedicated to supporting students with intellectual and cognitive disabilities, ensuring they can fully participate in the Work Education program. You will work closely with Work Education teachers to provide tailored support and foster an inclusive learning environment.

On any given day, your duties will include:

  • Assisting students to engage effectively in their learning.
  • Provide literacy and numeracy support.
  • Facilitate small group work and assist with personal care requirements.
  • Create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Assist in the preparation of learning resources.

 

What you will bring

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of the needs of people with disabilities in an educational setting.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities (desirable).
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team in an ethical and respectful manner.
  • A good level of literacy, numeracy, and computer skills.

 

Qualifications (desirable):

  • A qualification in Individual Support, Community Services, Youth Work, or School-Based Education Support.
  • A valid driver’s licence.

A current Working with Vulnerable People registration is required, or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
