The Role

We are seeking an experienced Librarian to coordinate and deliver customer-focused library services across TasTAFE campuses.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for technical operations, supporting students and staff with access to physical and digital library resources, and maintaining collection standards to ensure quality learning experiences. You will also provide guidance and supervision to less experienced staff and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

This is a 12 month Fixed-Term role, commencing February 2026.

 

On any given day, your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver a high standard of customer service and information support.
  • Perform and coordinate specialised technical library functions, including cataloguing, acquisitions, and collection maintenance.
  • Assist students and staff in accessing publications and navigating digital resources.
  • Manage equipment and guide users on its application.
  • Support learning through collaboration with educators to ensure access to relevant resources.
  • Co-ordinate staff with rostering, leave, training, general support and enquiries, review policies and procedures.

What You Will Bring

  • Degree in librarianship or information studies and/or a postgraduate diploma.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proven creative thinking, initiative, judgement and organisation as well as the capacity to work effectively under pressure.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge of library automation systems, and principles and practices of contemporary librarianship.
  • An ability to co-ordinate the work of assigned staff to meet agreed priorities.

A current Working with Vulnerable People registration is required, or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
