The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to support international learners throughout their TasTAFE journey and contribute to a positive, inclusive and supportive learning experience. The International Services Officer (North) provides frontline operational support across the international learner lifecycle, ensuring learners receive timely guidance, assistance and referrals to support their success.

Based in Launceston, you will be a key point of contact for international learners, assisting with pre-arrival and onboarding activities, orientation programs, accommodation support, wellbeing services and social engagement opportunities. You will work closely with internal teams to monitor learner participation and progression, maintain accurate records, and support compliance requirements in line with the ESOS Act and National Code 2018.

About You

You are an organised and learner-focused professional who is passionate about supporting people from diverse cultural backgrounds to achieve their educational goals. You bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach and the ability to build positive relationships with learners and stakeholders alike.

Ideally, you have experience working with international learners, preferably within the vocational education and training (VET) sector, and an understanding of the factors that contribute to learner engagement, wellbeing and success. You are confident following policies and procedures, maintaining accurate records and supporting compliance processes, while demonstrating empathy, professionalism and cultural awareness in every interaction.

Candidates who speak a language other than English and have experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities will be highly regarded.

Essential Requirements

If you are successful in obtaining a role with TasTAFE, you will need to hold, or obtain, the following:

  • Current Registration to work with vulnerable people in Tasmania.
  • Australian permanent residency, or possession of a valid visa with work entitlement in Australia.

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience in VET international education.
  • Fluent in an additional language other than English.
  • Current Driver Licence.
