TasTAFE aspires to be a place of innovation, creating new ways of training, finding solutions, delivering differently and increasing access for all.

The Role

Based at our Clarence Campus, this is a unique opportunity for an experienced Building Designer or Architect to step into a rewarding education role. As a Teacher or Associate Teacher – Building Design, you’ll help develop Tasmania’s future workforce by delivering training in design, drafting, and compliance for residential and small-scale commercial building projects.

On any given day, your responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching and mentoring students in Building Design and Residential Drafting
  • Supporting learners on campus and online
  • Designing, coordinating, and delivering training and assessment materials aligned with industry needs
  • Advising students, parents, and employers on training pathways and career development

What Will You Bring

To be successful in this role, you will need to bring your design experience and professional qualifications into the classroom. We're looking for someone with:

  • Certificate IV in Residential Drafting (minimum), with Diploma or higher-level Building Design or Architecture qualifications highly desirable
  • Licensed Building Designer or Architect (preferred)
  • A current Working with Vulnerable People registration, or the willingness/ability to obtain one prior to commencement
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40122) or a willingness to work toward it (TasTAFE can support you in obtaining this, free of charge)
  • A genuine passion for education, mentoring, and shaping the future of the building design industry

Whether you're currently teaching or have always thought about making the leap into education, we’d love to hear from you. Bring your design expertise, and we’ll help you develop the teaching skills.

A current Working with Vulnerable People registration is required, or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
