The Role

Based at our Southern campuses, the Learning Support Tutor – Foundation Skills provides essential tutoring in literacy, communication, numeracy, digital skills, study skills and employability skills to students undertaking vocational education and training programs.

This is a part-time 0.5 FTE, (36.75 hours per fortnight) position.

Working closely with delivery teams, you'll work with students individually and in small groups—both in person and online—to help them build the skills they need to understand learning materials, build confidence, and apply their knowledge practically. This is a student-focused role with a strong emphasis on collaboration with your team and colleagues.

Key responsibilities include:
• Tutoring students to build foundation skills and support their understanding of course content and assessments

• Providing timely feedback and maintaining relevant tutoring materials and documents
• Working closely with foundation skills teachers to develop and deliver tutoring that aligns with a learners vocational training

• Attending team meetings and undertaking relevant professional development

• Performing administrative tasks in a timely manner

What You Will Bring

• Relevant foundation skills knowledge and tutoring skills for individual and group settings with ideally, vocational education experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work with a diverse range of learners
• Experience in managing workloads independently and meeting deadlines
• Familiarity with technology and a flexible, proactive approach to problem solving
• Relevant qualifications and experience in the delivery of foundation skills.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in foundation skills tutoring or teaching to young people or adults
  • Previous experience in vocational education and training

A current Working with Vulnerable People registration is required, or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
