The Role

Hours per fortnight - Up to 76 hours

The Senior Consultant, Work Health and Safety (WHS) works within the WHS team to provide high-quality operational and administrative support for the WHS Manager in order to develop, implement, maintain, and promote continuous improvement of the TasTAFE WHS Management System (WHSMS), to ensure safe systems for work and a healthy work environment are provided for employees, students and visitors attending TasTAFE. 

You will be responsible for achieving:

  • Providing specialist WHS information, advice, and support to stakeholders across TasTAFE on all WHS functions to facilitate effective implementation of the TasTAFE WHSMS and ensure compliance with relevant legislation is achieved.

  • Develop effective working relationships and participate with internal and external stakeholders, including work and study teams, WHS committees, Emergency Response Teams and Working groups to support the effective promotion and implementation of WHS, Wellbeing, and Workers Compensation Claims, and Injury Management Systems across TasTAFE.

  • Undertake the development of policy and procedure documents, reports and guidelines to align to legislative requirements for WHS in TasTAFE.

An existing TasTAFE employee employed under a copied state instrument, or an employee who has been employed at TasTAFE in the past three months, if successful, would be appointed at the relevant classification and salary in the copied state instrument.

Evidence of meeting the following requirements for the role will need to be provided prior to starting:

  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People
  • Evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption

Desirable requirements for the role include: 

  • Relevant WHS qualifications (e.g., Investigate WHS Incidents equivalent to BSBWHS505A, WHS Auditor, Injury Management Coordinator).
